"A quick note to let you know Tim has been offered a place at Wilson's - and passed the test at Wallington too. He has also been offered scholarships at Trinity and Whitgift... so we are absolutely delighted.
We'll probably go for Wilson's..... but will let you know in due course. Many many thanks to you and all your teachers - a hard year but well worth it!" Best wishes, RB

"I enrolled my daughter for this 11+ exam course at Summit Saturday School because I knew she wanted to go to an independent school. Over the 8 months, I found that she has become really confident, she has really matured, and she is really, happy compared to her peers. She will sit down, focus on what she has to do and get it done. She has done really, really well and is not worried by the fact that she is going to sit exams that will determine her future. I really recommend the Summit School and the 11+ Course."

"I like Summit Saturday School and I have enjoyed the 11+ exam course because I learnt how to do my verbal and non verbal. It helps me with Maths and English and I also learn more.
I would recommend it to my friends because I think they would like it. I like it because it’s such fun. You have very small classes and you get lots of attention from teachers and that makes you learn more than you actually do in school. It helps me with my school work and I am much more confident. The teachers here are great."

Pupils work in small classes of around 6 – 12 students, which is unique among local schools, and we value the tremendous opportunities that this way of working offers pupils and teachers. It makes for lively, stimulating and highly interactive classes in which everyone is engaged and no one is left behind.

Verbal Reasoning for Eleven Plus Exam
Verbal Reasoning is a test of your child’s understanding of words and the English Language. It requires that your child has a fairly good vocabulary and understands the use of language.
The assessment covers vocabulary, logical reasoning, the relationship between words and manipulation of symbols by using letters and numbers. Mental alacrity is required in answering the questions and pupils must know what is being asked of them in order to understand the question and answer it correctly. A significant number of grammar and private schools use Verbal Reasoning and Non Verbal Reasoning as the basis for determining whether your child has the ability to join their school. Some 11 plus exams consist entirely of verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests.
Non-Verbal Reasoning for Eleven Plus Exam
Non-Verbal Reasoning is a clear indicator of future academic potential and is often a compulsory part of most if not all entrance tests. It includes classification, matrices, series and analogies. Non Verbal Reasoning is designed to measure a pupil’s ability to recognize similarities, analogies and patterns in unfamiliar designs. The manner in which the pupil completes the test demonstrates how they understand and assimilate new information. Non Verbal Reasoning intelligence is important because it enables students to analyse and solve complex problems without relying on or being limited by language.
Correct 11 plus exam preparation is vital as pupils must work with accuracy and speed in the examinations.
Some of the skills required are:
- The ability to recognize visual sequences and remember them
- Understanding the meaning of visual information and recognizing relationships between visual concepts
- Performing visual analogies and
- Recognition of casual relationships in pictured situations
11 Plus Exam English
Our smallest class has 4 students; we believe this is certainly unique among similar schools. We value the tremendous opportunities that this way of working offers pupils and teachers. It enables lively, stimulating and highly interactive classes in which everyone is engaged and no one is left trailing behind. It gives teachers the flexibility to differentiate and to adapt one’s teaching and pace to suit the needs of every pupil in the class. In addition, students have a considerable amount of 11 plus examination practice allowing them to grow in confidence before sitting their examinations. Homework is a priority and is used to monitor the performance and improvement of each student.
11 Plus Exam Mathematics
Mathematics is taught in small groups. The lessons are designed to prepare our pupils for the examinations they will take at independent and grammar school. Teachers cover the requirements of the national curriculum and go beyond, focusing on the range of skills that the pupils are required to know for the 11 + exams. Pupils are taught to work with speed and accuracy and healthy competition exists within the classroom.
IQ. Tests
Non Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning are means of testing your child’s IQ.
IQ testing has become more and more popular over the years particularly for children, but also for students wishing to secure a place at university. It is the most credible measure of a person’s actual ability and can be structured in such a way to determine whether the child has the qualities, academic ability and intelligence to perform the work, or reach the required standard. The results of the tests will also demonstrate the ability of the pupil to develop skills or acquire knowledge.
IQ tests are intended to determine a child’s true mental potential by comparing the scores of other children who have taken the same tests. Many selective schools use this information to determine how intelligent each pupil is compared to all the other pupils preparing for 11 plus exams.
