Top Private School Gives FREE 6th Form Places to Boys
Free 6th Form places are being offered at City of London School to high achieving boys from disadvantaged backgrounds whose parents earn less than £20,000.00 pa
This fantastic opportunity is open to the brightest high achieving boys from inner London state schools. Eligibility will be based on academic achievement and family income. This is by far the biggest private school bursary available to state pupils.
In this bold initiative, Headmaster David Levin of City of London School said it will stop the “ghettoisation” of London Schools where pupils of just one background are taught together. Headteachers from state schools have met with David Levin to formalise plans.
The £500,000 scheme will see bright boys selected from London state schools who have shown academic potential. Applications have been oversubscribed with 83 pupils applying for the City of London School scheme.
Interviews took place mid November. In this pilot scheme 16 pupils will join the City of London Sixth Form next year. Their school fees of £13,000, uniform, travel expenses and books will all be paid.
If the scheme is a success, the donors who include an anonymous charity, the City of London Corporation, Businesses and former City of London Students, will increase their donations to enable 100 disadvantaged teenagers to be offered places at 6 other leading private schools across the country.
